Tallit

I made this tallit for myself during a weeklong workshop at the Marshfield School of Weaving taught by Nelly Wolf of Black Cat Judaica. My vision for the tallit came from my love for the colors of a sunset, the way they fade one into the next, and shift in vibrancy over the duration of the event. I also wanted the tallit to have more traditional elements, such as the black striping along the sides. I wove seven stripes on each side of the tallit, one of which was double the other six, a nod to the sabbath and the extra soul + portion of manna we receive. The kanfot (corners) and atarah are a special weave that creates a wave like pattern. The tzitzit are hand spun white wool made by Ghost Rosen.
