Tallit
This was my second kanfot commission, a unique six cornered tallit traditionally worn in the Kohenet lineage. We used a combination silk/hemp fabric for the base which I dyed with an ombré technique using blue (indigo). The atarah and corner fabric is dyed with pomegranate which yields a pale yellow. The pasuk (verse) on the atarah is from psalm 92. The back panel of the atarah is an applique of a sun made from different vintage sari silks, pomegranate dyed fabric and vintage iridescent fabric overlayed on the circular portion of the sun. The embroidery motif on each corner includes an evil eye, moon, pomegranate, poppy. The tzizit are spun by Ghost Rosen and include a dark blue thread symbolizing the blue of tekhelet traditionally used.
