Tallit
This was my first commissioned tallit for a soon to be ordained rabbi (now ordained). The main portion of the tallit is sourced from Hirbawi, the last original keffiyeh made in Palestine. I enlarged the tallit by adding linen panels to each end of the keffiyeh. The exterior kanfot (corners) are a commission from Inaash. They employ Palestinian women living in Lebanese refugee camps who work in the art of tatreez (embroidery). Each corner design motif represents four different regions in Palestine: Jerusalem, Hebron, Gaza and Ramallah. The atarah (crown) and interior kanfot are made from a vintage Chinese red silk. The tzitzit are hand spun white wool made by Ghost Rosen.
